Radical & Dangerous Spirituality:
Practicing the Presence of the Goddess
Faculty: Bellezza Squillace
With all the electronic gizmos in our hands, we are finding less & less time for meditation, prayer and perhaps even personal magick. When our personal world crashes, some of us either get sick or revert to mainstream solutions for repairing the issue that traveled from our spirit through our mind, emotions and into our bodies.
If you have lost the ability to be at peace because of the pressures on your mind and body, and if your best intentions fail under the demands made on your time, join us to reconnect & jump start your inner spirit, or deepen an already strong one.
Plan ahead. Why wait until you are forced to slow down and look with deep concentration on your life, your relationship, and your relationship with Goddess, your self and our environment. Staying calm and centered in an ever changing world is a spiritual practice for us at any stage of our lives. The more you know, the better your options are when you need divine guidance.
This course realistically examines our spirituality as it looks at mysticism, empathy, communication skills and spiritual development. We discuss our origins, learn the skill and practices, and work to bring a more center-focused living to everyday life. We discuss basic areas of spiritual practice: Activist, Stillness, Movement, Ritual/Cyclical, Creational, and Relational.
WTI Activities: Ritual, Activism, Personal Growth, Goddess (Meditation requirements), Body/Movement
Animal Energetics: Mystical, Magickal & Mundane
Faculty: Marisa Folse
If you love reading SciFi, you know that this genre often provides a perspective into psychic skills and energy work. This class examines this theory specifically with Animal Nations through the writings of Marian Zimmer Bradley in her “Darkover” Series and Mercedes Lackey in her “Waldemar” Series. Learn difference between Goddess Messengers and animal guides. Determine how key messages focus us toward our life’s goal, our greatest good or, for some, toward a community purpose of transforming the lives of others.
Books used for this class include: Hawkmistress by MZB, Arrows of the Queen by ML and Winds of Fate by ML (Chapters 1 thru 12). Relevant pages for discussion will be scanned. While it is recommended that participants read the books, it is not vital.
WTI Activities: Psychic Skills, Energy Management, Matricentric Culture & Mythology
Deepening Archetype Explorations through Art
Faculty: Laura Keefe (lu)
This class is inspired by the outstanding book The Circle of Life: Thirteen Archetypes for Every Woman by Elizabeth Davis and Carol Leonard. This book is recommended reading but not required.
This is the first class in a series of four. Over this 6-week course, we deepen our understanding of women’s life stages by exploring at least 3 different art mediums and/or styles, each customized to your personal interpretation of these archetypes: The Blood Sister, The Midwife and The Priestess.
A very broad range of creating is encouraged; your art might include painting, sculpting, photography, music, poetry, cooking, dance or any style that YOU feel fits the assignments. Participants are expected to participate by posting their progress at least once per week, and to share their creations with the class. Discussion is encouraged, and lu will reply to all posts. If you create a tangible piece of art, it is helpful (but not required) to post photos of your art. lu will be creating along with the class and sharing her art as well. Experienced artists & newcomers are welcome and encouraged to participate and create in honor of the life journeys of women!
WTI Activities: Creative Activities, MMD, Goddesses, Personal Growth, Integrated Studies
Feminist Astrology: Working with Saturn, and the Mother of Time
Faculty: Bellezza Squillace
Beyond the myth & legend, beyond the scarey cliches exists valuable insights to the cosmic effects that this second largest planet in our solar system has on us. In this class, we will examine our personal charts (natal-transit charts will be sent to each participant) for the particular importance that Saturn has on our life. We will discuss the relationships transiting Saturn has through the zodiac signs & our houses, and bring a new awareness of the terms for Saturn Return, Opposition, Square, Conjunction and Retrograde. More importantly, throughout the class, we look at the Goddess OPS who was his wife in ancient mythology, and through Her gain a more Feminist perspective. Beginners and Intermediate students of Astrology welcome. Please register with your birthdate, time and location.
WTI Activities: Divination, Ritualist, Healer, Energy Management
Water/Goddess
Faculty: Sid Reger, Ed.D.
EIGHT WEEK CLASS
We know that there’s no life without water. But, do we understand how the waters of the world have played an essential role in the development of culture and mythology? In this class we will explore water goddesses and spirits from around the world—goddesses of oceans, sea travel, rivers, lakes, springs, and rain. We will also consider the importance of the waters of life and women’s wisdom—the relationships between the waters without and within us. In the watery realm we will also examine the importance of intuition and dreams. And we will discuss environmental issues relating to human use—and abuse—of water resources.
WTI Activities: Goddesses, Environment, Feminism, Psychic Skills, Matrifocal Cultures, and Creative Activities.
2010 Fall WTI Online College Faculty
Bellezza Squillace is an Ordained Priestess of RCGI and has worked with Feminist Astrology for decades. Her teaching style is informative, compassionate and affirming. Bellezza has written numerous articles on Feminist Astrology and provides an endless variety of insights on this ancient science. Throughout her life, a natal Saturn in Cancer provided Bellezza with skills in helping others overcome their own hardships, feel sheltered and supported.
She is recognized for offering transformative public and private rituals. Her experience in center-focused spiritual practices reaches from her childhood and throughout her life. Last year, Bellezza experienced a radical shift in her physical well-being where circumstances forced her to remain relatively immobile. She rediscovered the power of stillness & brings this course to those brave souls who wish to enhance their vibration on Earth by creating a regular, healthy & balanced practice in their cluttered schedules.
Marisa Folse has an in depth knowledge of the influence the Animal Nation can provide for our spiritual growth, and has diligently read and reread both book series over the years. In previous classes, Marisa has guided participants to see Animals within and around their homes, and learn to listen to their messages. She is environmentally conscious and also has a bright imagination that helps her work with the mystical creatures of dreamtime, folklore and fantasy.
Laura Keefe (lu) is enrolled in WTI Cycle III (Creatrix, Ritualist, Healer). She has been teaching piano lessons for 22 years, and voice lessons for 19 years. She passes down her love of the arts to her two children by regularly creating art with them.
