Stirring the Pot: Feeding with Intent

Six-week Course - $63 (September 23- November 4th)

WTI Credit: Magic, Energy Management, and Cosmology

Course Description: For untold time, feeding the village has been the chore of the women. In addition, stirring the Cauldron has long been the image of witches. So, what is the difference between cooking a meal for the family and cooking up magic? The simple answer is intent. One may mindlessly warm up or cook whatever you find in the pantry, and thereby satisfy the physical craving of hunger. Alternatively, one may decide to nurture and manifest the body, mind and spirit, using intention and intuition as guides. Cooking with intent is one step along the path to integrating our beliefs into everyday practices. In doing so, we affirm our magical selves and create meals that reflect our inner state.

In this class, we will learn how to marry food preparation and intention. However, this is not a history class, or a sociological project. It is a participatory exploration of the planning process for a magical meal. The intent of this class is for the participant to take away basic concepts that are applicable to every day nurturance of her family and her craft. Cooking up a magical meal involves the same basics as cooking up any good spell or ritual: setting your intent, drawing the circle, invoking the elements, taking the actions you plan, and closing the circle.

Participants: There are six lessons, to be posted weekly. You will be asked read and consider the ideas answering the questions in the lesson. You may also choose to participate in the class’ discussion. You are welcome to respond to the instructor privately with questions or comments. The final week’s assignment will be to plan, prepare and serve an intentional meal and to report to the instructor (or the group) on your experience.

Her greatest challenges on this journey have been to accept parts of herself that have been long hidden by fear and oppression, and to welcome them into her life and her being. Her greatest goal is to help empower all that is feminine in herself, her community and the world. She is the author of The Planting Rite, book 1 of the Rememberer’s Tales. She is committed to assisting her Tribe regain the deeply hidden memories of the past, and to serving the women of RCG-I. She hopes to be Ordained when the Council deems it wise. Kip’s motto is “In Her service, and so Yours.” She lives in the wilds of Indiana with her partner, Deb and two of their 5 children.

Topics in Women’s Spirituality: Expressions of the Sacred in the Visual and Performing Arts

Six-week Course - $63 (September 23- November 4th)

WTI Credit: Feminism, Ritual, Personal Development

Course Description: Set against the backdrop of the feminist and womanist movements, the Women’s Spirituality movement began its development. Whereas feminism sought, in part, to liberate women from their bodies, Women’s Spirituality sought to re-vision the female body and to empower women by validating such concepts as intuition, women’s ways of knowing, the body as sacred and the body as a vessel for spiritual and practical knowledge. In his course we will study and explore the use of the arts (music, dance, theatre, visual arts) in the women’s spirituality movement and how this praxis has led to the concept of embodied knowing. We will also investigate global perspectives of the ways in which art and the artistic process has informed/inspired humanity’s connection with Divinity throughout history. The class will attend art performances and gallery exhibits on their own within their own communities and offer critique within the framework of this class discourse.
