Every Step of the Way
By Bellezza Squillace
"...And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair..." -Author Unknown
I grew up running barefoot whenever and wherever I could. As a young womon, I loved wearing those 3" high heels with only straps to hold them to my ankles. Now, I wear orthodic supports in relatively expensive running shoes and fall into ecstasy any time someone massages my feet.
In our sacred or social circles, we rarely talk about feet, ankles, legs or hips unless something has gone amiss, and someone is at a point of needing surgery. If you have to go to bed and fight off restless leg syndrome, only your bed partner knows about the frustration experienced nightly.
For most of us, our feet and legs carry us forward every day of our lives. Through our feet, we touch the Face of the Mother. By the strength and well-being of our legs, we walk through the paths along river banks and into the forests, or through crowded shopping malls.
Age takes its toll on the bones in our feet and on the connecting joints that support our flexibility, slowing us down and causing us the kind of pain that keeps us from dancing through our days and into our nights. If you subscribe to the notion that there is a body-mind-spirit connection, there is also a healing solution for whatever change disease, accidents or over-use bring.
I have put together a check list of most foot/leg issues or challenges from OSF Healthcare1 and combined them with metaphysical causes & affirmations from author Louise L. Hay2 books. Please check these sources for comprehensive information about the particular concerns you or someone close to you has for any body system.
Consider using affirmations as a healing tool. Make them your own adapting to your own inner needs. If you understand the relationships with the Plant Nation, you might include herbs to add to the healing.

OSF Healthcare. http://www.stayinginshape.com/3osfcorp/libv/r11.shtml "Feet, Ankles & Legs" In 1875, as a result of the German religious wars initiated by Bismark, a group of Franciscan Sisters came to America & took refuge in Iowa City, IA. On October 28, 1876, six Sisters were sent to Peoria, rented an old two-story frame house to be used as the hospital where Sisters could take care of the sick & poor. Their website has a lot of easy-to-read information regarding health.
