Cybele’s Song

I am a lion savaging my prey.
I am a gazelle brought to earth.

I am the beginning of desire.
I am the end of all thirst.

—weather rushes across my face—
clouds, rain, sun—oh—

I am the center of the sun.
I am the ice core of a comet.

I can never be contained.
I am vast as mountains,

—weather rushes across my face—
clouds, rain, sun—oh—

I am flower, I am stone,
I am blood and the bloodied,

I am the beginning of desire.
I am the end of all thirst.

—weather rushes across my face—
clouds, rain, sun—oh—

"Cybele’s Song" is from Seasons of the Witch, soon to be re-issued by Creatrix Press
