image of planet venus

This is a space picture of the planet Venus. She is the brightest natural object we see in the sky, except for the Moon. The Astronomical-Astrological symbol for Venus is also the one used in Biology for the female sex.

It’s a commonly held belief that the archetype of Venus symbolizes love, art, beauty, money, sensuality & merging. She represents the force of attraction & partnering in the universe.

We start learning Astrology by examining our own Natal Chart, which is a map of the sky when & where we were born. Understanding Astrology is like using a simple algebraic formula.

A = The energy of the Planet’s archetype (what lessons come from Goddess)
B = The zodiac sign that Planet is in (how you express that mission)
C = The House that Planet is in (where you do it)
A+B+C = D The resulting energy or cosmic work you came here to do.

If you have a natal chart, pull it out to follow along. If you need one, follow this link to Astrodienst at http://www.astro.com/cgi/chart.cgi?rs=3&btyp=w2gw& Enter in your birth date, time & location on the form. Your personal Natal chart pops up immediately & will be similar to what you see below here.

This is an example of an Event Chart that you can “eyeball” for the focus of a particular night’s energy. It is a map of what the sky looks like at that precise moment in that particular location. Obviously, the more aware you are of all those cosmic energies, the better choices you can make for your spiritual growth.

With your own Natal (Birth) Chart in front of you, locate Venus, the Zodiac Sign & the House Venus is in. ABC.

symbol of venusThe archetype of Venus is simply what you love & where your passion in life is.

Look at which Zodiac Sign Venus was in at the moment of your birth. This sign points to why you play your loving partin your own life’s drama. While most information on Zodiac Signs is written for the Sun Sign, it also applies to the energy of every other planet & asteroid in it. For more depth about a particular sign, just Google. These are generic:

    1. Aries – Revitalizing, adventurous; loves courage
    2. Taurus – Stable, sensual; loves nature & beauty
    3. Gemini – Witty, gregarious, quick-witted; loves communication
    4. Cancer – Nurturing, home, family; loves good defenses
    5. Leo – Playful, dramatic, on stage; loves being a kid
    6. Virgo – Analytical, health-oriented, magickal; loves the puzzle
    7. Libra – Harmonious, non-confrontive; loves equilibrium
    8. Scorpio – Intense, mysterious, sexy; loves what can’t be understood

    10. Capricorn – Hard-working, committed; loves the big picture
    11. Aquarius – Idealist, global, political; loves community action
    12. Pisces – Mystical, prone to cope through addictions; loves illusion

And the final match-up is what House you find Venus in. Here are a few words for each House for the energy of how you express your love to the world.

    1. Your physical body, motivation, survival modes, first impressions
    2. Self-esteem, resources, attitudes about money
    3. Environment, transportation, communication / siblings, neighbors, teachers
    4. Home, upbringing, inner life, nurturing, cultural identity, parent of the opposite sex
    5. Creativity, inner child, lovers, children, pets
    6. Health / Workplace, medical staff, co-workers
    7. Partnership, balance of power, spouse, business, coven-mates
    8. Mysteries, surgery, drastic changes, shared resources, sex, death, rebirth
    9. Exploration, moral codes, in-laws, spirituality, travel, higher education
    10. Status, responsibility, career, ambition, reputation, parent of same sex
    11. Ideals, friends, sisterhood, causes, visions
    12. Seclusion, forgiveness, reflection, avoidance, addictions, endings

You might wish to sit with that information and think of the quote, “Do what you love and the money will follow.” You just got the key if it is something you really want to love and do.

A Transit Chart cast specifically for you indicates personal growth much like how your skin changes in texture & elasticity over the years. Skin can be cut, burned, torn, tattooed, diseased, bruised, touched, nurtured, loved and healed. Whatever happens to you physically, emotionally, mentally & spiritually shows up on your Transit Charts as a “change” of location for the planets.

The commonly held belief is that we are triggered by the movement of the stars throughout all our lives. We develop certain habits or create behavioral rituals & encounter anniversaries for core events that can be explained through the Science of Astrology.

Usually all the planets Transit or Travel around the Sun in what is called Direct Motion.

During Transits, we draw people & specific circumstances to us in order to live, learn lessons, love & go on to the next adventure. In case we do not learn what is in front of us during one Transit, sure as the Moon rises & sets, we will get another chance in another situation.

However, another phenomenon of Transits viewed from Earth takes place where one or more planets appear to move backwards in the sky, called Retrograde Motion. It has more to do with the speed & distance of each planet’s revolution around the Sun.

None-the-less, because a Retrograde planet returns to a House, or finds a still point & stays in a House, it energetically provides us with more time to deal with certain issues in those areas of our lives.

There is such a 4-part Retrograde energy affecting us Spring Equinox to Summer Solstice.

    1. Evaluate right relationships of people and things
    2. Slow down, remember to breathe through issues
    3. Deal with past conflicts
    4. Do some internal de-toxing

To make it easy in understanding this energetic package, locate the specific Houses in your personal Natal chart as noted below and follow the guidance for each.

Venus Retrogrades to Pisces & returns to Aries on April 24. When Venus is Retrograde, the energy provides experiences in evaluating real worth or value of people & things in our life. This is the planet least likely to go Retrograde & therefore it is significant to notice. (Look for your personal Houses ruled by Pisces & Aries)

The 2nd time in 2009 for a Mercury Retrograde is May 7-30 (for 23 days) where it is in Gemini backing into Taurus. Remember, general energy is slower, BREATHE & laugh as you wait. (Look for your personal Houses ruled by Taurus & Gemini)

Saturn Retrogrades now through May 17 in Virgo. Only deal with issues from the past; do not take on new ones! (Look for your personal House ruled by Virgo)

Pluto Retrogrades April 4 through September 11 in Capricorn. Let go of unhealthy attitudes, patterns or rigid emotions; make time to undergo an internal form of house cleaning to gain greater control over your personal life. (Look for your personal House ruled by Capricorn)
